Healthy peatlands are one of our most powerful tools in tackling the climate crisis. 🌿 Yet 80% of England’s peatlands are degraded. Paludiculture is a potentially important solution to this challenge in our lowland landscapes - growing crops that thrive in wet conditions, keeping peat soils healthy and locking in carbon instead of releasing it. Pilots led by Lancashire Wildlife Trust, FWAG South West and Bristol-based biomaterials company Ponda have already shown what's possible - turning Typha, a common wetland plant, into clothing insulation. Now we're scaling up. Our new £10 million Paludiculture and Wetter Farming Fund is open for applications, backing research into wetland crops and helping farmers adapt to wetter peat landscapes. Applications close 21 August. Follow the link to to find out if you're eligible and apply: https://lnkd.in/ePhaqjAV #Peatlands #Paludiculture #WetterFarming #ClimateAction
