For International Women's Day, The NATO Association of Canada is organizing a virtual discussion on "Building Resilience: Women's Leadership Against Violent Extremism". This virtual panel, including experts Dr. Cecile Rousseau and Dr. Ardath Whynacht, will examine why gender-sensitive analysis is essential to understanding and addressing violent extremism across local, national, and international contexts. Our discussion will explore how women are both impacted by and involved in violent extremism, as well as the critical roles they play in countering it. Across NATO countries, women contribute to PVE efforts not only as mothers or wives, but as community leaders, policymakers, advocates, and key contributors to long-term peace and security.
