NATO Association of Canada members had the privilege of attending an exclusive members-only tour of Gertrude Kearns’ works at the Royal Canadian Military Institute. The visit offered a meaningful opportunity to engage with Kearns’ powerful military art and reflect on the stories, individuals, and experiences represented throughout her work. Through her pieces, members explored themes of service, conflict, memory, leadership, and the human realities behind military history. This special tour also provided space for thoughtful discussion on the role of art in preserving history, encouraging reflection, and deepening our understanding of Canada’s military and defence community. We extend our sincere thanks to Gertrude Kearns for guiding our members through her work and sharing her insight, perspective, and artistic process with us. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from her and to experience such an engaging and memorable evening.
