Slow down. Enjoy the view. Watch the road. Stay in your lane. National parks have long offered some of the most memorable driving experiences in the country. From the fall colors along the Blue Ridge Parkway, to the sweeping peaks on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, to sunrise views along the Summit Road in Acadia National Park, these routes are designed for more than just getting from point A to point B—they’re part of the experience. But that experience only works when everyone drives with care. “Driving safely in our national parks” means more than obeying the speed limit. It means staying alert, keeping to your lane, wearing your seat belt, and recognizing that park roads are different by design—narrower lanes, slower speeds, sharper curves, and fewer of the markings and guardrails you may expect elsewhere. In conclusion, don’t be in a rush to get somewhere when the journey is the destination.
