𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘴𝘺, 𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘯-𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴. Mr Mahamood Bin Ahamed, aged 69 and a grandfather of 12, is one of the first few patients in Singapore to successfully undergo histotripsy treatment, a novel non-invasive treatment under trial at NCCS & SGH. Diagnosed with end stage liver disease and liver cancer, he was offered histotripsy to prevent tumour progression as he waits for a suitable liver to become available. Having witnessed how his late parents and sister suffered from cancer, Mr Mahamood is thankful the clinical trial has given him the hope that they never had. Launched in December 2025, the histotripsy clinical trial led by NCCS & SGH aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of histotripsy for the treatment of liver cancers in the Asian population.  While liver cancer is one of the deadliest and most commonly diagnosed cancers in Singapore, advances in medicine and innovative therapies offer greater hope for patients and their families!
