👊 New breakthrough in metabolomics analysis supports liver cancer research! A new study led by Prof Pierce Chow and Dr Sin Chi Chew from NCCS and partners from A*STAR Bioinformatics Institute and NTU has developed an innovative ‘tumour mapping’ technique that sheds light on why hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) biomarkers fail. Employing multi-technique spatially guided metabolomics profiling, the team found that more than half of metabolite signals in tumour samples come from healthy tissue - explaining why cancer treatments often don't work as expected. The team’s novel spatial analysis approach makes metabolomics more clinically useful and supports better understanding of HCC biology, paving the way for personalised treatment approaches 🌟 🔗Read the full study in EMBO Molecular Systems Biology: Spatially-guided metabolomics profiling of metabolic regions in human tumor tissues. https://lnkd.in/gQHux9tW #FromBreakthroughstoHealing #LiverCancer #CancerResearch #TumourMapping #PersonalisedMedicine
