“Over time, I realised I could not let my fear become the centre of Aaron’s life. What mattered more was helping him live meaningfully and confidently.” – Michael Sim. A father’s love is truly unwavering and enduring, and we just needed to share this inspiring story of Michael Sim, father of our third-year NUS Computing undergraduate, Aaron Sim. From navigating Aaron’s muscular dystrophy and Asperger’s Syndrome to supporting him through some of life’s toughest moments, Michael chose hope over fear and possibility over limitation. He refused to let fear define Aaron’s future, empowering his son to live with confidence, purpose and courage. Aaron’s story is just as inspiring. With remarkable resilience and grit, he has overcome obstacle after obstacle, including life-threatening situations, to pursue his dreams and forge his own path. In 2023, his perseverance was recognised when he was awarded the Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation Scholarship, administered by SPD. Michael and Aaron’s story reminds us that resilience is not built alone—it is nurtured by those who stand by us, believe in us and never give up on us. To all fathers at NUS and beyond: thank you for being the quiet strength behind so many journeys and achievements. Today, we celebrate your love, sacrifice and unwavering support. Happy Father’s Day! 🦁 ❤️ 🤩 #NUSResilience #NUSRespect https://lnkd.in/gCk3QK5c
