Daily Summary – June 17, 2026 One of the strengths of our democracy today is that Gambians are free to express their opinions, debate national issues, and engage openly in public affairs without fear. The peaceful and democratic environment that exists today did not happen by accident. It has been nurtured and maintained under the leadership of President Adama Barrow, creating space for diverse views and active citizen participation. With that freedom, however, comes responsibility. As public discussions continue on social media and other platforms, it is important that opinions are based on facts and verified information rather than rumors and misinformation. Healthy debate strengthens democracy. Responsible engagement strengthens national unity. Together, they help move #Gambia forward.
