People living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) face a higher risk of developing bowel cancer, but new technologies are changing what’s possible for early detection. 2025 Postgraduate Scholarship recipient Dr Kyle Wu is exploring how tools like artificial intelligence (AI) could help detect pre-cancerous changes earlier and more accurately. Dr Wu’s research will evaluate the role of AI and genetic testing in detection aiming to improve early cancer diagnosis and guide more targeted treatment for bowel cancer patients. Because when it comes to bowel cancer, earlier and smarter detection matters.
