POV: You’re a 184-tonne supergrid transformer (SGT) on its way to boost resilience of the UK electricity network. ⚡ Over recent months six new SGTs - each weighing the equivalent of 30 African elephants - have been successfully delivered to Harker substation, which plays a vital role in connecting electricity supplies between Scotland and England. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making these complex deliveries happen safely and successfully: SGTs supplied by Hyundai Electric Co., Ltd. HD and transported by Allelys. What’s next on this project? Keep up to date with all the action at Harker here: https://lnkd.in/evGFTStZ --- What’s a transformer? To move electricity efficiently across the country, we use high‑voltage networks that can carry large amounts of power over long distances. Closer to homes and businesses, lower‑voltage cables take over. Transformers sit between the two, quietly adjusting the voltage so electricity arrives safely and reliably where it’s needed. ---
