Never will the people of the United States forget the horrific attacks on our freedom, our nation, and our very way of life that occurred 19 years ago at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and Flight 93 over Shanksville, Pennsylvania. As #NETL honors and remembers the lives lost during the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, we also cherish the men and women who served and saved and continue to do so — the police officers, the firefighters, paramedics and military personnel — who selflessly rescued the trapped, aided the injured, and kept the country safe in the aftermath. As our nation grapples with the challenges of COVID-19, we give thanks that the United States endures as a beacon of courage, resolve, wisdom and hope throughout the world.
