Trying to do some good in the world.
Today, I want to uplift Sergio Juárez Correa. Sergio is the teacher whose story inspired what is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful films ever made about education: Radical. Set in the Mexican border town of Matamoros, the 2023 film tells the story of Sergio going against the grain of a rigid educational system and choosing instead to let students’ curiosity, inquiry, and creativity drive learning. In doing so, he shows what becomes possible when a teacher boldly goes against the status quo. I want every educator, everyone in the education transformation movement, and really anyone who cares about young people to watch this movie. Heads up, it's in Spanish only with English subtitles. Don’t let that stop you. It is heartwarming, inspiring, and deeply human. It reminds us of the power of a transformational teacher. It’s about relationships, belief, inquiry, and courage. I also want to uplift all the educators out there who are going against the grain of an outdated system to meet kids where they are and light them up through creativity and authentic learning. These stories matter. We need to elevate them. You can currently stream Radical on Amazon Prime (https://lnkd.in/gUgbV8ng) Watch it. Share it. Talk about it. This is the kind of story the world needs more of. _____ I don't usually tag a bunch of movement-building friends onto these uplift posts, but I think this one is too important not to.
