On the 30th October, I performed at NurtureMeMentoring ’s “Standing Firm in Power and Pride” event, in celebration of Black History Month. I wrote this piece to highlight the themes of perseverance, excellence and remaining true in our identity, despite the challenges we encounter due to our skin colour. A massive thank you to Patience N. for inviting me and for organising this amazing event. A special thanks to Ugo M. ,Beth Davies, Cynthia Akiotu, Jermaine Benjamin and Liayah for your amazing contribution, talks and performances across the evening. Thank you also to Hippo for opening the floor to us!
