There’s been a lot said about Argentina lately, and I know not everyone understands the country, its people, or its history. What I’ve learned is that the loudest conversations typically aren’t always the ones that bring people together. The stories worth listening to are often the ones rooted in family, culture, and shared humanity. My father was Native Mapuche-Argentino, and my mother’s parents were Sicilian immigrants who made Argentina their home. Because of that, I’ll always be proud to support my parents’ homeland and celebrate the beautiful mix of cultures that make Argentina what it is. And whether we win the next match or not, soccer has been one of the defining parts of Argentina’s identity for generations.
