Wildland firefighters face extreme conditions on the front lines — and NASA is helping make that work safer. 🚒🔥 NASA Langley scientists with the agency's FireSense team developed low-cost thermal sensors for fire bulldozers, alerting operators when radiant heat reaches dangerous levels while also gathering critical on-the-ground data to better understand wildfire behavior. Developed in collaboration with the Alabama Forestry Commission, this innovation brings NASA expertise directly to those protecting our communities.
