NASA Langley’s expertise and technology continue to shape the future of lunar exploration. The Langley‑developed Stereo Cameras for Lunar Plume-Surface Studies (SCALPSS) provides critical data needed to understand the effects of lunar landings on the lunar environment -- essential information as larger spacecraft touch down closer together. SCALPSS captured this first‑of‑its‑kind imagery during Firefly’s Blue Ghost Mission 1 last year, and it will return to the Moon on four commercial landers in 2028 as part of NASA’s Moon Base Program. Listen as Moon Base Program Manager Carlos García‑Galán underscored SCALPSS's importance during a recent Moon Base update. Learn more about NASA's Moon Base Program: https://nasa.gov/moonbase/
