A Review of Two Papers on Financial Toxicity Among Cancer Patients in Japan I had the opportunity to co-present at a lecture with Dr. Yuri Ito of Kobe University, a leading researcher in the field of financial toxicity among cancer patients in Japan. We reviewed a paper published by Dr. Ito’s group on a survey of the actual state of financial toxicity among cancer patients in Japan. It became clear that financial toxicity is not merely a matter of financial burden, but rather the result of various intertwined factors, including the availability of support from those around them, the stigma associated with being a cancer patient, and the information provided by healthcare professionals.
