The Washington Mystics' Guard Natasha Cloud becomes first female basketball player to sign with Converse. Natasha Cloud gained recognition while being named AAAA First Team All-State as a senior. During this season she averaged 12.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 4.0 steals per game.[2] She led Cardinal O'Hara to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class AAAA state finals two years in a row, as a junior and then to the second round as a senior. Both her junior and senior year she earned First Team All-Delco honors. As a junior, earned a Pennsylvania AAAA Third Team All-State selection. Earned the Michael Menichini Award in 2009. Cloud is a starter for the 2019 WNBA champion Mystics known for her all-around contributions and strong defense. She penned a strong essay for the Players’ Tribune over a week ago in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd, imploring her fellow athletes not to remain silent. Converse, acquired by Nike in 2003, had been a major player in the signature shoe market in the 1970’s with names like Dr. J, Julius Erving, in its lineup. Cloud, who grew up outside of Philadelphia and played college ball at Saint Joseph’s, told the Philadelphia Inquirer she and her dad are big Dr. J fans.
