⚡In Operational Technology (OT) environments, every new interface is also a new responsibility. Every connection in production adds value and exposure. Machine vision solutions sit right inside OT landscapes: connected to networks, control systems, devices, and data flows. That’s why security can’t be treated as a separate “module” somewhere else. Once you view machine vision as part of the industrial attack surface, the timeline changes too. Secure configuration, access control, and update processes aren’t things you can bolt on shortly before a deadline – they require early decisions and cross‑team coordination. And this timeline has already started: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. Thomas Hopfner makes that point clearly: “Even though full compliance only becomes mandatory at the end of 2027, development, security, and update processes need to be adapted much earlier.” 🚨The takeaway is straightforward: products and processes need to be adapted now, not in 2027. For companies across the industry, these changes take time, especially in OT environments. Acting early is a necessity and not optional anymore. 💡 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗩𝗧𝗲𝗰 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀: MVTec ensures software integrity by automatically checking downloaded packages for integrity and by recommending validation of digital signatures via the MVTec Software Manager, which then verifies all subsequent downloads. #IndustrialAutomation #MachineVision #OTSecurity #CyberSecurity #MVTec
