Yesterday morning I had the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity on the Orange Ave project in Long Beach alongside organizers Oscar de León and Jessica Chiang. I’ll be honest — I thought it might be a quick photo opportunity. It definitely wasn’t. They had us working. From carrying beams up ladders to helping with the framing, it was great to be part of a team literally building the foundation of someone’s future home. Seeing the teamwork on site was inspiring and a great reminder of what can happen when people come together for a shared purpose. Projects like this are about more than construction — they’re about creating stability and opportunity for families in our communities. Looking forward to the next build and hoping even more people can join us. If you’ve ever thought about volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, I highly recommend it.
