A project led by the UNSW Sydney's Professor Raghu Lingam in partnership with Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) has received $7 million from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) to expand GenV (Generation Victoria) into a national research platform. Co-led by MCRI Professor Melissa Wake, the initiative will integrate statewide health data from nearly 50,000 children and 75,000 families to enable faster, more effective testing of treatments and early-life interventions. The new Intervention Hub will securely link biological samples, routine health data and environmental insights into a central platform — supporting large-scale trials, advanced data modelling and real-world evidence generation. This investment marks a significant step forward for Australia’s research capability, with the potential to transform how we understand and improve child health outcomes — from asthma to obesity — at scale. GenV is supported by the Paul Ramsay Foundation, the federal and state governments and The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation, and is delivered in partnership with UNSW.
