The “Future of Healthcare” (FoH) Erasmus+ project partnership (funded by the EU Commission) held its first face-to-face meeting at MTU Kerry on the 8th of June 2026. Organised as an interactive workshop, the meeting brought together representatives from all partner countries: the Czech Republic, Italy, Ireland, Poland (two organisations), and Türkiye. MTU serves as the project coordinator, represented by Emer Thompson, Healthcare Expert, and Dr Kristin Brogan, Project Coordinator, while Dr Valerie McGrath supports the project’s communication and social media activities. A total of 14 participants attended the event. The Future of Healthcare project focuses on preparing current and future healthcare professionals for the opportunities and challenges created by artificial intelligence and digital transformation in healthcare. While AI technologies are rapidly reshaping healthcare systems, technology alone is not enough. The FoH project bridges the gap between digital innovation and human-centred care by equipping healthcare professionals with AI literacy, ethical awareness, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and empathy skills. Through international collaboration, the partnership will develop the FoH Framework and the FoH online learning Platform, providing innovative training modules covering AI fundamentals, AI tools in healthcare, data management and analysis, ethical and legal considerations, AI evaluation, communication, and teamwork. The project aims to ensure that AI serves as a powerful tool that enhances—rather than replaces—the compassionate and human-centred values at the heart of healthcare excellence. Project partners also enjoyed the social side of their visit to Kerry and promised to return if MTU can arrange a little more sunshine next time.
