Paralegal at Laing O’Rourke

My internship with Fenwick Elliott LLP has come to an end, and I am so grateful to the firm and the The 10,000 Interns Foundation for making it possible. From the very start, I was trusted with meaningful work. This included analysing claims, reviewing pre-action documents, and working with JCT contracts and schedules of amendments. During my time with Mitsubishi Power Europe, I helped draft board resolutions, put together templates, and wrote an internal article on endeavours clauses that was shared across the legal team. Visiting the Damhead Creek power station made the impact of the work real and showed me how legal advice connects to operations. I also spent time with Laing O'Rourke, joining project calls, reviewing agreements, and preparing research and case summaries, including a briefing on corporate collaboration. A visit to the Olympia site highlighted how lawyers play a key role in keeping major infrastructure projects moving. These six weeks have sharpened my skills, confirmed my interest in construction, infrastructure, and energy law, and shown me the real impact lawyers can make. I leave inspired, curious, and excited for what’s next. A special thank you to Millie Nash, Marina Samountry, Lucinda Robinson, Melanie Ludlow (Fenwick Elliott), Shelly Burke, Chetan Raghwani, Gabriella Kovacek, and Emmanuella Olawuyi for their support and guidance.
