Optical Fiber Sensing for wind turbine monitoring and predictive maintenance Dr. Dr Yosri Haddad, researcher in applied photonics at Multitel, will participate in #OPTIQUEBFC2026, the largest optics and photonics conference in France, organized by the SFO - SOCIETE FRANCAISE D'OPTIQUE from July 6 to 10, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès in Dijon. This major event will gather more than 650 researchers, PhD students, and industrial partners from across Europe and beyond. The 2026 edition will notably open with a plenary lecture by Anne L'Huillier, Nobel Prize in Physics 2023, highlighting the scientific excellence of the conference. 👉 MULTITEL will present recent developments in optical fiber sensing carried out within the European Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen SALOME project, dedicated to offshore wind turbine monitoring and predictive maintenance. The presented technology uses a standard optical fiber as a long, distributed sensor capable of detecting very slow mechanical vibrations over kilometer-scale distances. Instead of measuring at only one point, the fiber can provide information along its entire length, making it highly relevant for monitoring large structures. Initially developed for offshore wind turbine surveillance, this approach also opens perspectives for other critical applications, including civil infrastructure monitoring, defense and military facilities, industrial sites, nuclear facilities, and sensitive areas where early detection of weak mechanical vibrations can improve safety, maintenance, and risk prevention. This participation highlights MULTITEL’s expertise in applied photonics, distributed fiber sensing, and advanced monitoring technologies for next-generation infrastructure surveillance. #opticalsensor #windturbine
