I wrote this piece years ago when I was still serving as Director of Multicultural Affairs & Community Development at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts. One of the things I loved about my time at SJP was working with music teacher Seelan Manickam and the talented students from the Jazz Combo. Some of my best moments were when I was able to create meaningful art in partnership with my students. Even now as I reflect back, it brings a smile to my face.
