UP Expert Lecture on AI It was an incredible privilege for MultiChoice Media Technology to be invited to the 33rd University of Pretoria (UP) Expert Lecture delivered by the esteemed Prof. Nelishia Pillay Nelishia Pillay. The topic, "Artificial Intelligence for Artificial Intelligence: Can Artificial Intelligence Create Itself?", sparked thought-provoking discussions about the future of AI, its capabilities, and its self-evolution. This lecture also highlighted the strong partnership between UP and MultiChoice that has been flourishing since 2018. Through this collaboration, the MultiChoice Chair of Machine Learning at UP has significantly advanced AI/ML research and innovation, contributing to real-world applications. Prof. Pillay and her dedicated team have been instrumental in these efforts, especially in driving forward key projects such as developing advanced recommender systems tailored to our customers' preferences, automating thumbnail creation for local content, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies like the Video Multi-Method Assessment Fusion (VMAF) for video quality optimization. These contributions ensure we remain at the forefront of technological innovation.
