At the 2nd Swabian Economic Summit, the panel discussion on “What opportunities does #defence offer for local companies?” made one thing clear: the defence industry is increasingly becoming a strategic growth market for Germany’s industrial mid-sized companies.   Susanne Wiegand emphasized the importance of technological #sovereignty and the rapid modernization of the German armed forces. Clear security policy positioning and industrial strength are essential to ensure stability and resistance.   Stefan Thomé highlighted that the market currently demands scalable, ready-to-deploy technologies with reliable delivery capabilities including unmanned cargo drones for international defence forces.   Ulrich Scheib underlined the significant opportunities for regional industrial companies and the growing importance of space and dual-use technologies for European sovereignty. Modern defence will no longer be possible without #space infrastructure. At the same time space and defence have become purpose-driven sectors.   The discussion demonstrated that Bavaria has strong industrial capabilities, innovative power, and a willingness to collaborate.
