The epidemiology of pneumococcal disease among adults is changing. Are prevention strategies keeping up? Pneumococcal infections can lead to invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) with potentially severe consequences for health, particularly among older adults or individuals with certain risk factors. The landscape is also evolving. In recent years, a shift has been observed in the serotypes responsible for invasive disease.
