🤔 How did galaxies fuel their intense star formation at cosmic noon? 🤔 New research by #MPE scientists led by Jean-Baptiste Jolly and Jianhang Chen using #NOEMA and #JWST shows that massive disk galaxies at this epoch (~8-10 billion years ago) were surprisingly organized, featuring spiral arms and bars. These structures are key! They actively transport cold gas inward, sustaining star formation across the galactic disk.
