Rest in Peace, O Dear Prof. Richard Robert Ernst The Nobel Laureate in Chemistry in 1991 ( 14 August 1933, Winterthur, Switzerland - 4 June 2021 (aged 87) Winterthur, Switzerland). The scientific community has lost one of the brightest stars of this world, a great mind and a true pioneer in the field of NMR. A great scientist, mentor and teacher who helped developing the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance NMR Spectroscopy from traditional continuous wave CW based 1-D to Fourier Transformation FT based 2-D , 3-D and so forth and thus ultimately paved the path towards developing high resolution NMR and the MRI widely used in medicine now a days. Personally, we have beautiful memories with this towering figure in science and who ultimately turned to be our family friend after we met him for the first time on 27 October 2008 and then again on 19 December 2008 at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH, Hönggerberg, Wolfgang Pauli Strass 10, 8093 Zürich, Building HCN, Room D217, Switzerland . The world will remember his great contribution in science, education and humanity. We do mourn his sad demise and the world will miss him forever but his legacy will guide us through the generation after generation. Peace be with him our beloved Richard! #science #chemistry #innovation #nobellaureate #nobelprize #nmrspectroscopy #NOVAIMS #Bruker #ethzurich
