🚨FLASH NEWS | The World Bank Group approves US$265 million for Morocco’s hydropower project The World Bank has approved US$265 million in financing to support Morocco’s next-generation pumped hydropower project, reinforcing the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen grid flexibility, energy security and renewable energy integration. The project, implemented by Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable (ONEE), with support from the World Bank and the African Development Bank Group, will enhance Morocco’s ability to integrate increasing volumes of solar and wind power while improving the resilience of its electricity system. This milestone further reinforces Morocco’s position as a regional leader in the energy transition and highlights the importance of long-duration energy storage in achieving a reliable, low-carbon power system.
