We’re proud to have awarded an innovation grant to Mr Harry Petrushkin, a uveitis consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, to help develop a minimally invasive and low-cost treatment strategy for hypotony. This has led to the restoration of patients’ vision. This work was published in the Ophthalmology at BMJ today. 7 of the 8 patients who received the treatment experienced improvements in vision, eye pressure and length restoration after a twelve-month course of treatment. Mr Harry Petrushkin, Consultant ophthalmologist and clinical director for digital engagement at Moorfields Eye Hospital said, "We are excited that this simple treatment has proved so effective for patients with this rare condition. This is the start of a process of understanding more about the balance of fluid inside the eye, leading to improved care for our patients." Find out more on the link below.
