This week I graduated from Durham University with a First Class Honours in BSc Natural Sciences (Biology and Anthropology)! A module I particularly enjoyed was Contemporary Issues in the Biosciences, which involved writing a consultancy report about sustainability in Britain, for which I achieved 81% in the presentation component. Furthermore, I am extremely grateful for the privilege of taking part in the field course to Belize, where learning about the native wildlife and the conservation issues in the area gave me valuable insight into ecology outside of Britain. Outside of Natural Sciences, I have had a fantastic year making the most of what Durham has to offer. This year, I was Outreach Chair for Cuth's JCR, organising fundraising events across the college. A highlight was a darts competition, which raised £500 for Nepacs charity, and won best one-off event at the sports and societies awards in June. The enjoyment I got from organising and promoting events, as well as from taking a business-based module, confirmed my aspirations to pursue the MSc in Marketing at the Durham University Business School, which I look forward to starting in September. I also look forward to beginning planning for Movember in my new role as Cuth's JCR Welfare Campaigns Manager 26/27. Joining Durham University Dancesport Team in October 2025 played a very positive part in my final year as an undergraduate. I am very proud of becoming Beginner Jive National Champion at Blackpool in February with my talented dance partner Luke Naylor. After winning the beginner category, we moved up to novice at Manchester Spring, where we came first in novice latin. I am very excited for my next year at DUDT, where Luke and I will be moving up to the pre-intermediate category. I am very grateful to St Cuthbert's Society, Cuth's JCR and the Durham University Biosciences and Anthropology departments for shaping the past three years into such a positive, unforgettable experience.
