On Wednesday, Victor Jacob, Principal Conductor of the youth programme at the Opera National de Paris and laureate of the 2023 Victoires de la Musique Classique, handed the participants a baton. He came to ask what choral conducting reveals about a problem at the heart of leading any group of people: how to hold many different voices in genuine relation without asking any of them to become the same.  The afternoon carried the same question into deeper territory: writer and feminist thinker Jessica Horn and Adama Sanneh, co-founder and CEO of the Moleskine Foundation, brought into the room what they have learned from leading organisations through hard circumstances — what it takes to hold complexity without needing to resolve it.
