Recently had the opportunity to compete in the #NUS Tax Competition. Though we didn’t win, we were blessed to experience what it would be like to step into a world full of others in our field and realised how competitive it can be. It was an amazing experience and will teach us to be more prepared and ready for future competitions. Our shortcomings really made us realise that Tax is way broader than we realise and that there are so many categories of Tax that one can pursue from Corporate Tax, individual tax, GST for example, all of which would give a significant competitive edge if apt across It will only make us sharpen our preparations and skills to be more prepared for the next one. But despite that, we had fun, learned and experienced new things, can’t go wrong with a combination of those 3. We also met with multiple company representatives in our field industry from Deloitte and BDO to KPMG through their booths. We heard insights from people who are in the industry, which opened our eyes to possible opportunities in the future and widened our scope of aspirations. As an Accountancy student, I believe such opportunities shouldn’t be taken for granted and each one should be taken as a stepping stone to improve and polish ourselves . I’d like to thank NUS Business School Tax Club for hosting this competition and giving me the opportunity to expose myself to a new challenge and a give huge shoutout to my teammates Ng Sing Yao, Qi Yuan Tang, and Cayden Goh for attending this event with me, Tax Evaders WOOHOO HAHAHA Ultimately, it was an incredibly fun and fulfilling experience that I would do all over again.
