Dashboards =/= Decisions There’s a certain rhythm to data work many teams know well: The request comes in, information is gathered, dashboards are built, and the data is delivered. Maybe it even gets a follow-up. And then, everyone moves on. Nothing changes. In this episode of #BehindTheGrowth, Ben Volkwyn Senior, SVP Data, Analytics & Research at Triumph, talks to host Mudassar Malik about how easy it is for data teams to get stuck there. The work is good, but because it isn’t tied to what the business is actually trying to move, it doesn’t influence any decisions. Ben says the solution is about ownership. When someone takes ownership of the work and the work is tied to outcomes, everything starts to look very different. Now the team is no longer just delivering something, they’re on the hook for whether it worked. Or in his words, “If the work doesn’t change behavior, it’s not analytics, it’s just decoration.” The rest of the conversation builds on that, including: Consistency over intensity in leadership Why dashboards don’t drive decisions Data embedded in operational workflows When less data improves insight Turning reporting into decision engines 🎧 Tune in with the links in the comments.
