LUCE met Paula A. Serna Vanegas, a Colombian architect and lighting designer, founder of ESTUDIO DEDÓS - Lighting Design in Medellín. Having moved from the technical rigidity of university training to a practice that embraces shadow design and light art as inseparable disciplines, the lighting designer tells us about her vision of lighting design as a blend of technique and poetry, and about the deep conviction that guides her work: "Light is measured in lumens, but it is felt with the heart." She talks to us about circadian rhythms applied to schools, about shadows treated as a design material, and about the international awards she has won. And about how a difficult city like Medellín taught her that light brings dignity.
