The International Conference "Regenerating Places, Reimagining Futures" kicks off in Reșița on the 23rd of April. We are honored to host speakers with extensive experience in heritage revitalisation and urban innovation. Here are the core cross-cutting themes and the experts leading the discussions: 🔹 Policies and funding tools for urban regeneration and brownfield reindustrialisation. Simona Mureșan (Romanian Bank for Investments and Development) and Sorina Răducanu (FEPRA) will discuss private investment tools for urban regeneration, green bonds, and public-private partnerships. Sorin Dumitru will explain the ITI Banatul Montan mechanism. 🔹 Leadership & impact finance: Making reindustrialisation and site revitalisation financially viable. Primož Šporar (FUND 2740) will showcase how social impact investment ecosystems operate, A. Cosmin Munteanu will present the Vest Venture Fund initiative, and Svetlana Kirova (The Collective Foundation) will speak about urban culture funds. Kyle Wiebe, Ambassador at Unleash.org, will discuss changemakers and entrepreneurs driving viable regeneration processes. 🔹 Transformation stories in industrial heritage revitalisation across the Danube Region. From Poland, we welcome Dr. Adam Hajduga (ERIH), who will present the transformation of the "Pokój" furnace into a landmark for the Danube Region, and Łucja Zawadzka, who will talk about the spectacular revitalisation of the Zabrze Mining Museum. Ilinca Păun Constantinescu (ideilagram) will bring the fascinating story of the transformation of the Petrila Mine in the Jiu Valley, while Daniela Copaci (Reșița City Hall) will share insights on reclaiming and revitalising local industrial heritage. 🔹 Governance involving public-private actors. From Slovenia, Mateja Softić and Zdravko Kozinc (Iskriva Institute) bring best practices from the Ravne na Koroškem plant restoration under the New European Bauhaus umbrella. Ana-Maria Schlupp (Banatul Montan Community Foundation) will discuss the revitalisation of factory glasshouses in Reșița, and Andreea Iager Tako (PLAI Cultural Centre) will address how cultural activities in industrial spaces can generate broad transformations. Georgiana Mihailovici (CR.EU Metacluster) will propose sustainable collaboration models between the creative and public sectors through the CR.EU metacluster. 🔹 We'll be hosting three thematic working groups: UNLEASH Innovation Lab: Exploring revitalisation and regeneration through innovation, moderated by Kyle Wiebe and Nina Soraa (UNLEASH.ORG).
