The WA Centre for Rural Health at UWA (WACRH), together with Geraldton Sporting Aboriginal Corporation, Yamatji Elders, and Aboriginal community members, has launched ‘Earth to Table’, a community-led recipe book celebrating the rich cultural food knowledge of the Mid West region. Supported with a Waitsia Mid West Community Grant, funded by Mitsui E&P Australia and joint venture partner Beach Energy Ltd, the project highlights culturally significant recipes and cooking practices that reflect deep connections to Country, identity, and community. Through storytelling and shared learning, Earth to Table promotes healthy cooking while helping preserve and share cultural food knowledge across the Mid West. Student dietitians co-designed the resource alongside Yamatji Elders and families, guided by cultural leadership, knowledge, and insight. The result is a community-owned resource that honours both traditional foods and contemporary dishes. It also features artwork developed with local Yamatji artist and mentor Beau Simpson. The launch event at Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (GRAMS) brought community members together to share dishes from the book and celebrate its release. The recipe book is available to download via the WACRH website: https://lnkd.in/gkqUx5bu
