🚀 Major Milestone for US Nuclear Energy The US Department of Energy has conditionally committed $17.5 billion in loans to accelerate the supply chain for up to 10 Westinghouse AP1000 reactors—a game-changer for domestic nuclear manufacturing. By pre-purchasing critical long-lead items like reactor pressure vessels and turbines, this initiative is expected to compress project timelines by up to three years while driving significant cost efficiencies. Westinghouse is partnering with seven utilities nationwide, each committing $1 billion in equity upfront, positioning the industry for rapid deployment aligned with the 2030 construction target. A PwC study projects this 10-unit fleet could generate $92.8 billion in GDP during construction and support 44,300 high-paying jobs annually—demonstrating nuclear's vital role in America's energy future. This strategic investment signals strong government commitment to rebuilding our nuclear industrial base and achieving energy independence. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eUbcMcMj
