President Sally Kornbluth dropped an important reminder on Lizzie O'Leary Slate's "What Next: TBD" podcast. Today's cancer treatments started as curiosity-driven experiments 30-40 years ago. Scientists were asking "what if?" questions without knowing where they'd lead. That's the thing about basic science, it doesn't always have an obvious application. But it's the foundation for breakthroughs we can't even imagine yet. https://lnkd.in/eUjNvufU
