Harvick Farms focuses on food access and how it impacts the health and well-being of rural communities as an authorized vendor for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program hosted by the Missouri Department of Agriculture. “Growing food is not an easy job,” says Lainey Harvick. When her husband, Joseph, retired from the Marines in 2021, the couple returned to their roots. First, they purchased a farm in Agri-Ready Designated Barry County near Eagle Rock, where Joseph’s family has a century of heritage. Next, they became first generation farmers, rekindling the legacy of their grandparents who also farmed. “Getting fresher food into our community is about the bigger picture. The impact is more than economic; it’s about nutrition and health,” Lainey continues.
