An interesting case of proximal duodenal obstruction in a ferret. Abdominal ultrasonography was performed following a history of chronic vomiting that had failed to respond to antiemetic therapy. The examination revealed a dynamic, intermittent pyloroduodenal intussusception, with a hypoechoic duodenal lesion acting as the lead point. Based on the ultrasonographic findings, the primary suspicion was a duodenal obstructive process - a hypoechoic foreign body or a duodenal polyp considered the most likely causes. Surgical exploration (by Dr Daniel Castro e Dra Rute Abreu, Vetex) confirmed a proximal duodenal polyp, which was successfully removed.
