🔵 Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Discusses Cooperation in Mining Industries and Maximizing Phosphate Added Value with CEO of Jordan Phosphate Mines Company ​On the sidelines of his current visit to the Kingdom of Jordan, Eng. Karim Badawi , Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with Eng. Abdel Wahab Al-Rawad, CEO of Jordan Phosphate Mines Co.PLC. ​They discussed avenues for joint cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the domain of phosphate ore exploitation and the mining industries based upon it, most notably the phosphate fertilizer industry, given the promising phosphate ore reserves both countries possess, as well as their technical expertise in mining and related industries, which opens new horizons for partnerships that achieve added value and sustainable economic returns for both sides. ​They also reviewed the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' strategy to maximize the added value of phosphate ore through expansion in downstream industries, particularly the production of phosphate fertilizers and phosphoric acid, supporting Egypt’s targets to increase the mining sector’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). ​The Minister also emphasized that the ongoing reforms in the mining sector, along with the accompanying legislative development and the creation of an investment-friendly climate, aim at establishing integrated industrial projects that achieve the optimal economic exploitation of mineral resources and support the realization of sustainable development. ​For his part, Eng. Abdel Wahab Al-Rawad praised the rapid steps Egypt is taking to develop the mining sector, asserting the interest of Jordan Phosphate Mines Company in cooperating with the Egyptian side to achieve mutual interests. ​At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides affirmed their commitment to continuing coordination between specialized technical working groups to study joint cooperation opportunities and develop executive mechanisms to translate them into practical projects and partnerships that achieve mutual interests. #Egypt #Jordan #Ministry_Of_Petroleum #Mineral_Resources
