Thin Section Thursday! Photo and caption by Peyton Ellen Kaufman, UG student at James Madison Univ.: Plane light photo. The rock type is glaucophane schist located in Sonoma County California. Considering the rock fits into the Blueschist Facies, the sample likely will have experienced high pressure and low temperature conditions on the (P-T) diagram. From these conditions, it is likely the rock formed in a subduction zone (likely ocean-continent subduction). #thinsectionthursday #glaucophane
