Ukraine’s farmers and food producers help feed millions of people around the world and are central to the country’s long-term recovery. At the Ukraine Recovery Conference, we announced US$2 million towards World Food Invest, a new World Food Programme support facility to help Ukraine’s agri-food sector recover, strengthen and grow. The funding will provide practical support to farmers and food businesses, helping them reach markets, access technical expertise, strengthen their operations and connect with the investment needed to keep producing food and contributing to Ukraine's long-term recovery. It also builds on the success of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, which delivered more than 320,000 metric tonnes of food from Ukraine to around nine million food-insecure people across Africa and the Middle East. Dr Andrew Forrest said: “Minderoo Foundation is determined to help the brave people of Ukraine get back on their feet. But that recovery depends on more than just rebuilding infrastructure. It will require investment in the businesses, farmers and entrepreneurs who keep communities fed and employed.” Read more about how WFP and Minderoo are supporting Ukraine’s agri-food sector and long-term recovery: https://lnkd.in/eP8rUCE2
