Happy Pride Day!๐ŸŒˆโ˜€๏ธ Today completes 52 years since the first march, in 1969. And, to celebrate this day, we would like to share with pride and science, Ben A. Barres' history. Ben A. Barres was the first openly transgender scientist in the National Academy of Sciences (a nonprofit, non-governmental organization from the United States). Ben was a neurobiologist at Stanford University and transitioned to male in 1997 when he was 43 years old. Ben died of cancer in 2017. But there is a posthumously published memoir that documents his life story, The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist. โค๏ธ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸคŽ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค And, to all neuroscientists out there, in Mind the Graph Gallery you find many neurology illustrations for you to use.
