Far too often we don’t get to actually hear from decision makers directly. Aside from the great job Kallum did here (and thank you to Rachel Reeves too…) what really stood out to me, without any politics muddying the waters one way or t’other, was the timbre of Rachel’s responses. It was pragmatic and - dare I say it - pro growth vs the very negative rhetoric that the press led with the next day, having also heard exactly what I heard (“RR calls for tax raises” etc). That’s not we many/most in the room walked away with, at all. If you’ve a spare minute or five, perhaps listen to this (or the full form interview) before you read the daily rags. There’s definitely *some* sensible thinking going on in Gov.
