Pallet and shrink wrap is the major issue due to sheer volume, as it often ends up in general waste bins and, subsequently, landfills. Every pallet unpacked in a warehouse is wrapped in plastic, and there are millions of them. There is a great opportunity here as Australian recyclers will pick up pallet wrap and recycle it every day of the week. To enable a free and efficient recycling service, the material needs to be compacted and baled, which is luckily a very cost-effective exercise compared to the costs of continuous pick-ups of expensive general waste bins. It's not unusual for a compactor to save a client up to 90% on their general waste costs, not to mention contributing to a big step forward in sustainability. Of course, it's not just pallet wrap... a range of plastics can now be recycled, including PET, HDPE, LDPE PP, and more. As a business, a simple enquiry can help you refrain from defaulting to the general waste bins and landfill. I think it’s a simple education piece.
