OpenAI and Microsoft are changing the game. OpenAI can now work with other cloud providers while Microsoft remains the primary partner. Azure will host OpenAI products first unless it cannot support them. Microsoft’s license is now non-exclusive, and revenue share agreements are simplified and capped through 2030. This gives OpenAI more freedom to scale and innovate, while Microsoft keeps IP control and a significant ownership stake.
